BOB WOOD

Minister at the service

Obituary (shortened)

"We are here today to remember and to pay tribute to Carl Barks.

Memories are very important to us. For each one who knew Carl there will be a unique and very special set of memories. Obviously we will not be able to remember everything from his life here today, that would take another 99 years, but I do want to encourage you to share your memories with each other later in this service, and in doing so you will be helping each other through a difficult time.

Carl will be remembered for the things he loved by those who loved him.

Carl had always been a hard worker, from the logging camps and the rail road, he had done his share of hard work. He got his first taste of the printing business setting type for a print shop in San Francisco.

He considered himself to be very lucky to have a talent that would keep him working through the depression.

Carl didn't like confrontations, fights or controversies, and he was unconfortable with shows of emotions.

He was a humble man. Obviously he was world renown, but he never talked about it. No great ego that needed fed, not boastful and very dignified. He was a classy guy and very stylish.

We will remember Carl Barks for his great sense of humor, which he never lost, and for his incredible business sense. But most of all he will be remembered by those who knew him best as a wonderful, loving husband and a good man who was fair and generous with others.

Carl will be missed but he will never be forgotten."
