WDCS231 The Wax Museum
, page 1

Many developers of films and novels feel that their audience should be thrown into the events right from the beginning in order to give them a kick-start that may guarantee their continued interest. This is also often the case when it comes to comic books; it is always easier for a young reader to be entangled in a story plot, when highly graphic actions take off from panel one. Barks used this possibility (as well as many other types - see more HERE) in numerous stories, and this was one of them.

We are left with no doubt that Donald will hardly ever be first choice in a job situation, and he correctly admits to himself that he is a failure on the job market. Then the page ends with a cliffhanger to carry the story off. In merely one page Barks manages to present three important ingredients - action, misery, and hope, all of which permeate the rest of the story.
