Several books and other publications as well as the Internet have published various statistics about the works of Carl Barks. But many of these are wrong. So this website has decided to clear up the situation and publish the true figures.
Below you are presented with the ultimate statistics on all Barks' finished work for the comic books. You will be able to extract a lot of information from the charts - how many pages Barks finished, how many 24-pagers he made, how many manuscripts he finished, how much work he did for Four Color, and so on.

No Rule Without An Exception. So the saying goes, and this page will be the exception from this site's otherwise strict rule of always publishing easy-to-read pages without endless and tiresome information. The following information is not as much fun to read as the other pages - but it needs publishing.

 

 

HOW IT WAS DONE

The statistics cover Barks' entire active comic book period from 1942 to 1966 (therefore, such items as the 8 front covers Barks did for the CBL during the 1980s have been omitted as they do not relate directly to his comic book era).

You will find all the finished (i.e. inked) pages that were delivered to the publisher, listed in order of length. This includes ALL original work including any that may have been scrapped or not published for various reasons.

All listings are solely of the first issues of the comic books in the USA.

The comic books are listed alphabetically and not according to dates of issue.

Any small letters (a-b-c...) following a code number indicates the story's position in the comic book.

All pages that are less than one full page are regarded as full pages. This is also true for stories ending in less than a full page.
