Carl Barks incorporated thousands of secondary characters in his many stories from the Disney duck universe. They emerged in an array of different ways and with varying importance. Most were mere background ornaments in the panels, some were only mentioned by name, others had brief speaking parts, while a few participated with names and were part of the story. The secondary character listings in the sub-pages refer exclusively to the latter group in order not to completely overflow the pages.
This, in turn, means that you are not presented to the numerous characters that were either just named or just drawn thus a great deal of Barks' brilliantly dreamed up characters are not included. Still, you are left with a listing of more than 400(!) entries, which can be savoured in the sub-pages that are furnished as alphabetically sorted listings; one presents the names, while the other presents the issue codes.

The listings have been developed as a detailed - yet restricted - encyclopedia of names, from where you can extract answers to relevant questions as well as discover interesting or surprising details (examples: How many secondary characters are named Joe, which story has the most fully identified secondary characters, and who is Mike Lord?). For seasoned Barksists the listings will be a nice trip down memory lane, because they will recall most of the names (and the stories attached to them!), and still it is guaranteed that a number of names have been forgotten or overlooked - until now.

HOW IT WAS DONE

The sub-pages mention ALL* of the stories' named and portrayed secondary characters sorted in alphabetical order (first names first, if any).
Characters are mentioned with both real and invented names (ex.: Katie Mallard (Hashknife Kate)).
A few characters emerged in more stories but are only mentioned in their first stories (ex.: Si Bumpkin).
Assumed names are included (ex.: Napoleon).
A letter following a standard issue code indicates the story's place in the original comic book (ex.: FC0062B refers to the second story in FC0062).
All listings solely refer to the first issues of the comic books in the USA.

* Exceptions:
Characters only identified by titles are excluded (ex.: Maharajah of Howduyustan).
Disney characters that are not usually presented in Barks' stories - but have been used - are omitted (ex.:  Mickey Mouse, Big Bad Wolf, Dumbo). One exception, though: Black Pete is included provided he is named differently by Barks.
Characters only shown as images are excluded (ex.: billboards, photos, posters).
No obviously invented abusive or insulting names are allowed (ex.: In FC0108 Donald Duck calls the nameless criminal Snake Eyes once).
Characters with incomplete or vague IDs are omitted (ex.: Eight maids a-milking).
Group names are omitted (ex.: Gneezles, Terries).
