It has often been argued that Scrooge McDuck
only has one aim in life - to gather money in order to store it
in his Money Bin. Nothing can be further from the truth! On the
contrary, he has invested most of his immense wealth in all sorts
of activities around the world, and filled all the country's
banks to the brim with it, and the rest
he has simply been forced to store at his office address as the
only remaining option. Of course, that money is not accumulating
any interest in this vast piggy bank - and this fact most
certainly bothers Scrooge - but on the other hand the 'puny'
three cubic acres of coins and bills provide him with the
opportunity to take his daily money bath!
In his stories Carl Barks certainly gave the impression that
Scrooge was foremost a miser when it came to money, but he was
also an avid and sound investor. Otherwise it would have been
impossible to be a Phantasillionaire by merely collecting coins
and storing them. The following listings give examples of Scrooge's
varied and seemingly countless investments. They are by no means
intended to be a full account - not even Scrooge himself has that
much insight...
