The term Mobile Home (also called
Static Caravan) is mainly a concept seen in the USA, and has
little in common with the Caravan Parks that are commonly known
in most other places in the Western hemisphere. Despite the
somewhat confusing name, mobile homes are in essence stationary,
because once they have been placed they normally stay. They are
built entirely from prefabricated items in factories and then
transported to their destination by huge tractor-trailers. The
concept has many advantages; you get a fully functional home at a
fairly low price, you are spared numerous days of builders and
craftsmen roaming around, and - you can move if you fall out with
your neighbours!
Garé and Carl Barks purchased a brand new mobile home, which
they had picked themselves, in 1977, and they moved to a
beautiful recreation area surrounded by mountain vistas and
vineyards in Temecula, Riverside County, California. This page
presents you to a few of the many images Carl took from the
exciting event it when they received their new house. The
selected photos are placed in chronological order and they are
self-explanatory.
