Barks populated Donald's house with a great number of domestic - and at times even undomestic - animals. It was always done for a reason. The animals were never just pets moving in the background, they always played a leading role in the story. And trust Donald to always have a troubled relationship towards them all! To him they were often more Pests than Pets.
The only animal which did occur at several instances was the large Saint Bernard dog Bolivar who never really grasped what the commotion was all about...
