Carl Barks was always fond of
beautiful women with luscious figures. Not only did he marry
three times (he compared one of his wives to the glamourous
actress Marlene Dietrich), but he actually made a living from his
interest during his many years at The
Calgary EyeOpener, an adult magazine with
emphasis on cartoons with long legged, hourglass figured women.
Of course, this natural manly interest did not subside when Barks
later became a Disney duckman. But it was next to impossible to
add beautiful and sensual women with voluptuous figures to funny
animal comic book stories targetted for children. In reality,
sexy characters were banned in Disney's comic books. Still, Barks
followed his own head as he did so many times with other subjects,
and the result was that he managed to smuggle quite a few long
legged, hourglass figured women into his duck stories. Some were
'hidden' and portrayed in ornamental roles, while others
functioned as important parts of the plots.
Here are some examples of humanlike ladies in alphanumerical order after issue codes. If you like to find more examples you should know that Barks several times placed the ladies tucked away in the backgrounds, so they are often quite difficult to spot!
