Carl Barks was always fascinated by the vast
and enigmatic ocean. Maybe it was because he was raised on a farm
a long way from large bodies of water, or maybe he had the same
urge as we all have - to just sit at the ocean side and dream of
all the exciting places that lie beyond the mysterious horizon.
Anyway, many times Barks declared his love for the vast and
inspiring oceans. One of his favourite motifs in the comic book
stories were unruly, roaring waves. He especially liked to draw
the oceans' foamy, windswept waves.
Later in life Barks perfected his skills on the subject in a much
more demanding medium; he produced a number of duck paintings
that took place on the high seas.
From the great number of ocean stories only 10 panels - all panoramic - have been selected as representative of the chosen stories. If the subject tickles your imagination as it did Barks' you should browse the entire stories yourself to enjoy the many impressive and awesome wave panels and the atmosphere they add.
