Through time Donald Duck has carried hundreds of jobs in Carl Barks' comic book stories. Many have been of a traditional nature, while others have been quite unusual. Many have been performed on several occasions, while others have been isolated events. Many have been paid jobs, while others have been performed on a voluntary basis. This page will present some - by no means all - of Donald's multiple jobs in brief listings.
The overall presentation of Donald's jobs has been divided into broad main groups making the vast material more accessible and enabling you to compare stories in which Donald has had the same type of job; this also means that several of the job descriptions overlap and appear in more categories than one (and you will be able to form several more overlapping than demonstrated). The jobs are - group by group - listed in ascending order depending on how many times Donald has carried the same type of jobs. The order of presentation within each group is solely determined by the alphabetical order of the issue codes.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

In order not to completely overflow the sub-pages the following restrictions have been enforced (examples attached):
1.Only paid jobs are mentioned (in WDCS225 'Donald the Fireman' Donald was a volunteer fireman which does not pay any money).
2. No jobs with salaries based on prizes or contributions are included (in WDCS137 'The Screaming Cowboy' he received prize money for writing a song).
3. No private enterprises within a job (the fact that Donald bought a helicopter out of his own money when employed as a traditional mailman in WDCS209 'The Chopper Mailman' does not also make him a paid pilot).
4. Only references to jobs graphically portrayed (in WDCS165 'Way to Stardom' Barks only mentioned that Donald was employed as a delivery boy at a skunk oil factory).
5. Only references to written and drawn stories before Barks' retirement (from 1967 on Barks wrote several stories featuring Donald in paid jobs such as freighter pilot in WDCS117 Pawns of the Loup Garou).
