WALKING
  U$15 The Second Richest Duck - 1956

Synopsis:
Scrooge gets into a contest with Flintheart Glomgold to determine who is the world's richest duck. At the end it comes down to two balls of string...

Comments:
The simplest means of transport is, of course, using one's own two feet! And this is exactly what the ducks do in every single story to greater or smaller extent. In this one things are taken to the extreme; they walk through a good part of the southern Africa in order to settle a bet.

SWIMMING
  WDCS071 'Dishonest Swimmers' - 1946

Synopsis:
Donald and the nephews are racing each other swimming with Donald constantly winning. The nephews then decide to cheat but Donald listens in...

Comments:
Barks made a number of stories in which the act of swimming was the means of transport. The element of competition was usually the trigger mechanism for the plots; Donald would attempt to show his superiority in races with his nephews.

WATER SKIING
  DD60 The Water Ski Race - 1958

Synopsis:
Donald is practicing water skiing in order to lead the dance with the queen of the party. But Daisy has seen the queen and she is not amused!

Comments:
Donald tried his best to master water skis in two stories (the other one being WDCS062 'The Champion Water Skier'), but he failed in both.

WINTER SPORTS
  WDCS040 Snowfun - 1944

Synopsis:
Donald wants to show his nephews what a great ski jumper he is, so he prepares for a jump from a mountain top...

Comments:
Barks made several stories in which the ducks were out skiing during the winter. Most of the stories concentrated on Donald's lack of skill on the wooden boards.
As for ice skating, it is somewhat peculiar that Barks only made one story dedicated to this sport (WDCS294 Duck Out of Luck), because this was the only winter sport he practiced in his teenage years on nearby lakes.

TRAILER
  WDCS168 'The Mascot' - 1954

Synopsis:
The nephews' mascot - the chipmunk Cheltenham - annoys Donald and he decides to get even. Using alligators!

Comments:
At the time of the story trailers as 'moving hotel rooms' were fairly new occurrences, and Barks found an ingenious way of building a whole story around such a vehicle.

BOATS
  WDCS228 'White Water Rafting' - 1959

Synopsis:
Donald and the nephews get lost on a South American river. Who will rescue who?

Comments:
Vessels propelled through the water by the force of hands are usually called Boats. Barks made many stories in which very different kinds of boats were necessary means of transport. In this story the ducks use a rubber raft. In others they use rowboats, sailboats, and houseboats (WDCS167 'The Salmon Contest', MOC41 Race to the South Seas, and WDCS142 'Fool-proof Vacation' are examples). By the way, in the latter Donald used a real alternative means of transport; he goes over Niagara Falls inside a barrel...
