Western Publishing (with its many subdivisions) was Carl Barks' employer during all his years of making Disney comic book stories. There can be no doubt at all that the editors at Western cherished their extremely popular and thoroughly dedicated star duck artist, which these two examples prove: 1. Barks was from the beginning allowed to work from his home (an unprecedented procedure), and 2. he was never told what to write or draw (another unprecedented procedure). With that kind of free hand Barks was, of course, taking on a great responsibility, but over the years he more than lived up to it by delivering an impressive number of outstanding stories. Sometimes he would take the long drive to the head office in Beverly Hills, California, in order to personally deliver his latest stories and at the same time catch up on his professional companionship with his changing editors. Barks was well liked.

It happened a few times that his superiors would request Barks to undertake a specific task, and this page presents you to two attached episodes both based on inquiries for model sheets (you can see more inquiries HERE).
