TONY STROBL

1915-1991

Anthony 'Tony' Joseph Strobl started his Disney career as an in-betweener on Snow White, Dumbo, Fantasia, Pinocchio, and The Reluctant Dragon. In 1948 he went on to do comic books for Western. He was no doubt the most productive artist of all, with a day's work of about 4-5 pages. This was, however, only accomplished due to the fact that he had helpers to do the final inking and lettering. Strobl's style is characterized by clean and simple layouts with a tendency to be stereotypical and static, but he is nevertheless, usually considered the best Donald Duck artist next to Carl Barks.
