The term Beguiler in its basic form means 'Someone who leads you to believe something that is not always true'. This definition indicates that a beguiler is usually a negative or even criminal person, but the term is broader than that. Below you are shown some of Carl Barks' primary and secondary characters acting as beguilers at different levels. The terms used to describe them or their actions are merely examples of the vast main term (there are many more). Also, many of the examples are overlapping, as one expression can sometimes be exchanged with another.

NB.: In some of the examples it is important for you to have read the stories in order to know the characters' backgrounds thus obtaining the full effect of the 'accusable' terms.
