  VP1 Vacation Time - 1950

Synopsis:
Donald and the nephews are on vacation in the deep woods and Donald tries to take pictures of a deer. But it is not that cooperative...

Comments:
In fact, it is merely behaving as any intimidated, wild animal would when approached by man - it flees! Despite this, Donald actually manages to have a few very close encounters with the deer, but he never manages to photograph it.

  WDCS098 'The Foxy Fox' - 1948

Synopsis:
Scrooge convinces Donald to participate in a fox hunt but the fox is rather sly ...

Comments:
... so the nephews rent a tame one that would be easily caught if one utters its name, which is Red Herring. But Donald forgets and the fox flees throughout most of the story. Barks made a similar story in U$30 Yoicks! The Fox!, in which the fleeing fox's name was Hummingbird.

  U$08 'The Stone-ray Machine' - 1955

Synopsis:
Scrooge finds an S.O.S. message - someone on an unknown island seeks help. He quickly takes off in the hope of earning a bundle on the rescue expedition...

Comments:
This is a very exceptional story, as we never witness the 'fleers', the Beagle Boys, running away. Not only have they fled Duckburg (which we only hear about), but when Scrooge finally meets them in 'fleeing mode' they have been turned to stone! Fleeing without moving!!!

  FC0275 Ancient Persia - 1950

Synopsis:
A professor discovers how the ancient Persians immortalized themselves and he 'persuades' Donald to go with him to Persia to try out the invention.

Comments:
In reality, the professor has kidnapped the Ducks, but, strangely, they are the very ones that do not attempt to flee! On the contrary, all the story's other participants (who are at first scaring the Ducks) are trying to flee from the daunting actions in the end scenes...

  WDCS230 Black Wednesday - 1959

Synopsis:
Scrooge tells Donald that there is a curse on Duckburg because of some bad hair tonic he sold to the Chillyboot Indians. Donald tries to get the Indians to lift the curse.

Comments:
The curse makes all Duckburgians flee the city on what is ominously known as Black Wednesday. It is later disclosed that Scrooge had the unwitting responsibility for the events. Something similar happened in WDCS254 Jet Witch, in which Donald unwittingly managed to make all Duckburgians flee during Halloween.

  Fineart Silent Night - 1981

Synopsis:
Donald is walking around singing carols before Christmas but his voice is not very well liked. Especially not by neighbour Jones...

Comments:
Donald is so dedicated in his attempts to carol Jones that he installs hidden loudspeakers all over Jones' home, so that he will be forced to listen to Donald's singing. Poor Jones flees from room to room but to no avail...

  WDCS269 A Matter of Factory - 1963

Synopsis:
Scrooge makes Donald the manager of one of his motels in order to show that his nephew is not a complete nobody. But 'motelling' is not that easy...

Comments:
All the guests that Donald greets seem to be fine, upstanding members of mankind, but when they leave they have left the rooms in turmoil, or they have stolen objects, or they have run away from paying! Mankind is not always what it is cranked up to be!

  U$36 The Midas Touch - 1962

Synopsis:
Magica finally succeeds in getting Scrooge's lucky dime and now she hurries home to melt it down into an amulet. But Scrooge is after her...

Comments:
We have often witnessed Magica's dastardly attempts to possess the Number One Dime and know how she has failed every time. But in this story she actually manages to get hold of the treasured possession for a long period of time. She immediately flees with it chased by Scrooge and Donald, who can only be temporarily stopped by her stun bombs. Magica and her 'followers' wind up at her stronghold at Mount Vesuvius for the final showdown.

  FC0300 Big Top Bedlam - 1950

Synopsis:
Donald is going to return Daisy's heirloom brooch but it proves very difficult, as a certain circus artist gets involved.

Comments:
The artist is none other than Zippo, the world's fastest speed dresser, and he is aware that Donald is following him, but not why, so Zippo flees from him throughout the story using one masterful disguise after another in order to try to get Donald of his back. In another story, U$60 The Phantom of Notre Duck, another person is desperately attempting to flee (this time from Scrooge and the Ducks) namely the strange phantom, who has taken Scrooge's flute for his own purposes.

  U$33 You Can't Win - 1961

Synopsis:
Gyro is encouraged by several people to change trees into different and more interesting looks but he only wants to go fishing.

Comments:
Poor Gyro is fleeing from several obnoxious characters who want him to invent silly things throughout the story. In other stories we have from time to time witnessed Gyro's vexation that he has to invent all sorts of oddities around the clock, but this is the only one, in which he is actually fleeing from his customers.
