AUXILIARY STATIONS

FC0238

WDCS276

Acute help from official bodies can be obtained from a number of places, but Barks only used them very sparingly. Examples are police stations (FC0238 Voodoo Hoodoo), fire stations (WDCS225 'Volunteer Fireman'), coast guard stations (WDCS094 'Beautiful Smugglers'), lifeguard stations (WDCS276 Beach Boy), and forest ranger stations (VP1 'Vacation Time').

SANITATION

FC0238

WDCS275

All cities need their streets cleaned once in a while, and Duckburg is no exception. Undoubtedly, the city has a number of sanitation workers (FC0238 Voodoo Hoodoo), and Donald has been one as well (WDCS275 Zero Hero). He has also driven a snowplow once (DD45 'Power Plowing').

PRISONS

WDCS062

U$70

Although Duckburg harbours many criminals (thieves and swindlers), we very rarely get a glimpse of the correcting facilities that mark a natural end of their bad actions. Courtrooms are commonly shown, but not prisons. This is for a special reason, namely that The Disney Morals Code prohibits the use of that kind of facilities, where the primary characters can be displayed in an undesirable light. Barks experienced this first-hand already in 1946, when he made a story, in which Donald was jailed in the end. The editor censored the story, that instead ended with Donald waking up from a dream (FC0108 The Firebug).
Still, we have two isolated cases where Barks succeeded in portraying his ducks behind bars in Duckburg; Donald (WDCS062 'Brilliant Detectives') and Scrooge (U$70 Doom Diamond). And we must not forget the Beagle Boys' second home, Studious Hours Prison, located somewhere near Duckburg (U$63 House of Haunts)!

MUSEUMS

FC0029

FC0223

Duckburg has several museums that have been visited by Donald: The Duckburg Museum (FC0029 The Mummy's Ring and FC0408 The Golden Helmet), the Museum of Natural Science (FC0223 Lost in the Andes), and the Wax Museum (WDCS231 The Wax Museum). In the three last mentioned stories he was also working there.

SPORTS ARENAS

SF2

U$41

Duckburg has a number of sports facilities. Here are some examples: Bowling alley (FC1055 The TV Babysitter), wrestling arena (SF2 Jungle Hi-jinks), boxing hall (WDCS282 Bubbleweight Champ), racing tracks (WDCS166 'Midget Racers' and U$66 The Heedless Horseman), football stadiums (MMA September Scribbage and U$41 Snow Duster), and two(!) Olympic athletics stadiums (WDCS188 'Olympic Tryouts' and WDCS286 The Olympian Torch Bearer).
