Just a brief visit.

EGYPT

The ducks visit a number of real sights in this story. In U$25 The Pyramid Hunt they dug for a fictive pyramid.

MALI
  WDCS263 The Candy Kid - 1962

Synopsis:
Donald gets a job selling sweets at The Duckburg World's Fair. The manager thinks he is a genius...but for how long?

Comments:
Donald winds up hiding in the - especially from the second World War - famed city of Timbuktu after a catastrophic event. This also happened in WDCS201 'Super-Dye'.

SAHARA DESERT
  FC0291 The Magic Hourglass - 1950

CONGO
  U$33 Bongo on the Congo - 1961

Synopsis:
Scrooge wants Donald to learn how to be a tycoon, so he drags him to Africa to solve the problem of the disappearing plantation workers.

Comments:
The ducks visit the fictional town Kachooga in Congo which, at the time, was a Belgian colony. Barks acknowledged this fact in U$17 A Cold Bargain, in which the precious ball of Bombastium came 'from the fabulous Witch Raven Mines of the Belgian Congo!'...

CENTRAL AFRICA
  MOC20 Darkest Africa - 1948

Synopsis:
Donald is a butterfly hunter and he is hired to go to Africa near the Whambo Jambo river and collect the world's rarest butterfly. A villainous competitor follows...

Comments:
Barks was not specific as to exactly where the ducks travelled; Central Africa must be taken as the name of an area rather than specific countries. This was also true in FC0238 Voodoo Hoodoo (Mumbo Jumbo), SF Jungle Hi-Jinks, U$25 'The Wishing Well', and WDCS259 Jungle Bungle (Yamgrezi).

TANGANYIKA
  U$38 The Unsafe Safe - 1962

Synopsis:
Scrooge's technicians have invented unbreakable glass but what can it be used for? Well, the Money Bin could be encased in it...

Comments:
The ducks and Magica de Spell travel to Pangani in the country where a special bird, the Tanganyika Yeeker, lives. Consequently, it is fair to assume that they actually visit Tanganyika (which is named Tanzania today).

NAMIBIA
U$61 So Far and No Safari - 1966

Synopsis:
Scrooge hires Donald and the nephews to accompany him to Africa in order to buy a goldmine.
The kids are more interested in their animal call whistles...

Comments:
The ducks travel through the fictional Hara Kari desert. It can be assumed that Barks refers to the Kalahari desert which is situated mainly in Namibia.

SOUTH AFRICA

Comments:
This story - as well as U$61 So Far and No Safari - mainly take place in South Africa. We are also introduced to Glomgold's homeplace, the Limpopo Valley.
