MILITARY | |||||
Of course, the state of Calisota must have some measure of military installations, and some of them are even situated in or near Duckburg. Although it is rather doubtful that the military headquarters Quintagon (WDCS278 Have Gun, Will Dance) is in this particular vicinity, we know for a fact that Duckburg harbours several very large military installations such as the Duckburg Air Base (WDCS242 Balloonatics), a jet air base (WDCS234 Riding the Pony Express), two large missile bases (WDCS220 'Weemie' and WDCS244 Missile Fizzle), and, lo and behold, a (possibly non-military) space rocket launching base (U$49 The Loony Lunar Gold Rush). Quite impressive for such a relatively small city! |
LIBRARIES | |||||
Judging by the large population of Duckburg it is reasonable to assume that the citizens have a need for reading material as can be savoured in - and from - libraries. Barks offered us one story and two 1-pagers to that effect: FC1055 The Librarian, U$06 'Library Newspaper', and FC0263 'Reading Room Rumpus'. |
MUSIC HALLS | |||||
Duckburg has (at least) two prestigious entertainment halls that deal with music: The Duckburg Symphony Hall (U$15) and The Duckburg Pavilion (CP09 Christmas in Duckburg). |
CLUBS | |||||
Duckburg is teeming
with clubs, organisations, societies, and unions. All the
inhabitants seem to be members of at least one. And each
club is special in the sense that almost none of them
seem to be of the ordinary kind. Here are some examples: |
THEATERS | |||||
It is not known how many theaters there are in Duckburg, but here is a selection of different types: Amateur scenes (WDCS128 'Knight Brawl' and WDCS217 'Staging'), Artist scenes (WDCS049 'Tight Wire Artist' and WDCS151 'Easter Parade'), and Quiz scenes (WDCS099 'The Radio Hall Quiz Show' and WDCS152 'The Talking Dog'). To top it all there is also a theatrical agency (WDCS105 'The Echo Experts')... |
