AMUSEMENT PARKS | |||||
Duckburg seems to be littered with amusement parks (not just parks) but places where people go to have a good time for money. They can be loosely divided into main categories: Fairs (WDCS263 The Candy Kid and WDCS265 Raven Mad), Playgrounds (WDCS046 Camera Crazy and WDCS213 'Spring Cleaning'), Carnivals (U$05 'Hospitality Week' and WDCS279 Once Upon a Carnival), Circuses (FC0300 Big-top Bedlam and WDCS074 'The Bill Collector'). |
HOTELS | |||||
Duckburg must have many hotels and motels to accommodate the need for sleeping arrangements. The customers are, of course, prevailingly travelling businessmen and tourists, because the Duckburgians would rarely have the need for visiting such establishments. Still, some of the ducks did: Donald drops in(!) at Hotel Swelldorf-Castoria flying his giant kite (WDCS068 'Kite Megalomania'), Donald and Scrooge fight over a restaurant bill at Hotel Ritz (WDCS148 'Free Turkey Dinner'), Donald is slaving away in one of Scrooge's 9,999 hotels until he is offered a better job (WDCS206 'Hotel Manager'), and the Ducks get their dream jobs as managers in the outskirts of Duckburg at Motel Dreamland (WDCS269 A Matter of Factory). |
RESTAURANTS | |||||
There can be little doubt that
Duckburg has its fair share of restaurants, diners, soda
bars, and many other types of eateries. In fact, they
seem to be everywhere (just as in real life, eh?). A
great many have been graphically rendered - some named,
others unnamed. Here is a list of some of the named ones: |
ASSEMBLY HALLS | |||||
Surely, Duckburg must have several halls, where the Duckburgians can meet for many purposes, but Barks only treated us to a couple: The nephews rush into Finnegan's Hall in order to collect a turkey from a lottery ticket (WDCS075 'Turkey Trouble'), and Donald and Gladstone visit a series of bazaars and collect winnings (WDCS163 'The Swami's Pearls'). |

Finally, it seems only fitting that we take a look behind the scenes. Duckburg as a city was, of course, not planned by all the citizens. It was planned by a relatively small group of responsible and prominent people, who mainly remain nameless. But we know who they are! Here is a unique snapshot of Duckburg's wise city-fathers involved in a new planning discussion in the city council... |
