It is often said that we all talk about the weather (without doing something about it), and it is true that the topic is a casual and neutral conversation piece that can be brought up at any time. But in Duckburg, official meteorology is of great importance to at least two persons: Scrooge uses the meteorologists' office to inquire about the changing of seasons, thus enabling him to decide when to change between his winter coonskin cap and his summer silk hat (U$13 'Coonskin Cap'), and Gyro invents a weather controlled dome covering all of Duckburg, thus enabling him to stage all sorts of weather conditions as they are needed (FC1184 Monsterville).

Duckburg has the same problem as any city - getting rid of its garbage. This highly important, but thoroughly uninteresting, topic has been partly solved by a string of city dumps. We know of three such places, which the ducks visit for different reasons: The nephews find a working instant-developing film camera (SF2 Jungle Hi-jinks), Donald is rolled blindfolded and tied along by his neighbour Jones (WDCS048 'The Putty War), and the nephews find a wallet which they intend to use for a prank on Donald (WDCS127 'April Fool's Day').

Unbelievably, Duckburg seems to have at least 4 golf courses within the city limits. This fact bears witness of a strong interest for this 'pedestrian' sport! Only one of them was - very fittingly - named in the stories as The Bunion Acres Golf Course (WDCS096 'Hole-in-One - or Two'). The others were shown in HDL20 New Zoo Brews Ado, U$63 House of Haunts, and WDCS131 'A Day at the Golf Course'.

It is not fully out in the open if Duckburg possesses other natural resources beside water used for drinking and power. Still, from time to time we get a few hints suggesting that its underground harbours more than Terries and Fermies! We know there is oil (U$16 'Fuel Solution'), and we know there is gold (WDCS268 Christmas Cheers). Not so bad for one city...
